Effect of tension-compression asymmetry of AZ31B magnesium alloys on four-point bending

The mechanical response of magnesium alloy AZ31B is addressed thanks to four-point bending tests. These alloys are known have an asymmetrical behavior in tension-compression. test is, therefore, a good candidate analyze this effect because it combines the two solicitations. Digital image correlation used measure evolution strain fields during test. Measurements shift neutral line (zero strain) specimen then presented for samples taken rolling direction and transverse direction. It shown that initially towards side tension shifts back toward center sample. Due reversal sliding line, some physical points tested subjected alternatively compression tension. show these alternations confined elastic domain.
